Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ
When you first arrive and meet our staff, you’ll fill out your new patient paperwork. This helps our team get to know you better. We ask that you arrive 10 minutes early to complete your paperwork. Or, you can get a head start by filling out your patient forms now. RegistrationForm.
New patients often ask if they can have their teeth cleaned during their first visit. Your dental treatments usually begin with a follow-up visit, often scheduled as soon as the next day. We need to see you first for a comprehensive exam and then schedule adequate time with your hygienist. Sometimes the hygienist can perform the cleaning.
Radiographs, commonly know as X-rays, are an important tool to help your dentist properly diagnose your oral health needs. They allow your dentist to see beyond what the naked eye can see. X-rays help the dentist determine if you have dental caries (cavities), periodontal (gum) disease, abscesses or abnormal growths, such as tumors or cysts. They also show the location and condition of impacted or unerupted teeth.
Your dentist will perform a thorough examination of your teeth, gums and mouth, looking for signs of disease or other problems. His or her goal is to help maintain your good oral health and to prevent problems from becoming serious, by identifying and treating them as soon as possible.
If your teeth and gums are in good shape, you probably won’t need to return for three to six months. If further treatment is required — say to fill a cavity, remove a wisdom tooth, or repair a broken crown — you should make an appointment before leaving the office. And don’t forget to ask your dentist any questions you may have —this is your chance to get the answers you need.
At our Brooklyn dental office, every treatment we provide is done with an eye toward aesthetics. We offer porcelain crowns and dental implants that look practically identical to natural teeth. If you have a cavity, we offer white fillings so that your repair will blend in beautifully with your enamel, making the filling nearly impossible to spot. White filling material can also be used to fill in chips and cracks, a process known as bonding.
Call our office today and request a cosmetic consultation so that Dr. Lossef can examine your teeth, discuss your goals, and determine the treatment that will help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted. As your dentist in Brooklyn, Dr. Lossef takes his time and listens carefully to fully understand your needs. You won’t feel rushed or pressured into a decision. We’ll also make sure that all your questions are answered so you feel comfortable and confident in the decision you’ve made. Education is a key component of dental care.
